Counselling experience

I have been involved with counselling for over 18 years.
I started counselling as a Welfare officer in the Department of Health and Social Security in 1987; previously I came from a Civil Service Management and HR background.
In 1996 I joined an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) provider CareFirst providing services to the Department of Health in London .
In 2001 1 became an area counselling and Development Manager for CareFirst covering the southern part of the country including south Wales . In 2002 I became a Local Liaison Manager for the newly formed DWP/Job Centreplus. This contract ended at the end of June 2005.

I am currently employed by Right CoreCare as a counsellor for two days per week on a new contract that started on 1 s tJuly 2005.

Clinical Experience

Over the years I have gained a wide variety of experience working in both private industry and the public sector. I have worked with people from many different social and cultural backgrounds. I have worked with all levels of management in organisations.
I am used to providing counselling for staff and managers who have face to face contact with the public. I work with all types of problems, personal and work related. I have done a lot of work with attendance and sick absence issues over the past 3 years. Although I do not specialise, I have worked with a lot people who have suffered with loss of self Confidence, Anxiety, Panic and Depression. I have carried out many Defusions following individual and group Critical Incidents. I had a counselling management role at the Paddington (Ladbrook Grove) rail crash. I also provided clinical support at both the Hatfield and Oxford rail crashes.

I am happy to work with couples.

Current Practice

After many years of wanting to, I have started my own Counselling Centre in Maidstone . I am under clinical supervision and work with the BACP code of Ethics and Practice.

Personal details

I have been married for 29 years and have 5 children aged between 26 years and 11 years.

My hobbies tend to be creative. I have a keen interest in antiques and works of art.

Along with my sons and youngest daughter I support Gillingham football club
